Equal Opportunities
Teleos Training believes in the equal worth of all members of the human race, together with a recognition and appreciation of their diversity. We consistently and positively celebrate difference. We affirm the importance of equal opportunities because we:
- believe each person should be treated with gentleness and respect
- are committed to giving people equality of opportunity and treating all people fairly
- welcome all people in joining our work
- acknowledge our legal and performance obligations
- understand effective equal opportunity policies are key elements in the achievement of a quality business
We recognise that certain groups and individuals in society are discriminated against on grounds such as race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religious affiliation, national origin, age and disability. We recognise that discrimination occurs not only through the actions of individuals but is often embedded in patterns of employment, education, housing, health and social services provision and social interaction. These patterns are so pervasive that frequently neither the perpetrators nor victims recognise their existence.
We will apply the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 and the spirit of the Acts to individuals and groups not covered by the legislation. We promote equal opportunities in all aspects of our work. We advocate good practice by working and living in ways that are just and fair whenever we have opportunities to influence others.
Our staff is a small team and cannot reflect the various groups which make up the wider community. As the number of staff grows we will aim to create a balanced team. So far as is reasonably practical, we will aim to promote equal opportunities among those with whom we enter into contractual arrangements.
We will aim to exercise ethical judgements and use opportunities which are open to exercise influence over the policies of the bodies with which we work.We will review progress and produce an equal opportunities action plan, including training and procedures.
