Health & Safety

We believe that Health and Safety is a combination of common sense and good practice done in a thoughtful and consistent manner. We want to ensure that all people involved in learning activities facilitated by Teleos staff are able to learn and work in an environment which is safe and welcoming.

Before starting training activities Teleos will complete a risk assessment of the activity, the environment in which people are working, and the capabilities of the learners to act in a safe manner. Sponsoring organisations, building providers and learners may be involved in this risk assessment. The Assessment will include:

  • Fire Safety
  • Moving and lifting of loads
  • Access and egress
  • Work equipment
  • Other factors as appropriate

Before and during the course of any of our training activities Teleos staff will:

  • Complete an informal risk assessment of the training area.
  • Inform learners of potential hazards as above and provide appropriate supervision for the learning activities.
  • Report to the appropriate Authorities any accidents or near misses that occur while they are in a position of responsibility.
  • Promote gentleness and respect between participants and address inappropriate, discriminatory or dangerous behaviour.
  • Include Health and Safety issues as a part of the review of any training event run by Teleos.
  • Work in accordance with current legislation.

We expect Learners and Trainees to:

  • Take care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what they do or do not do.
  • Treat others with respect and avoid behaviour that is inappropriate, discriminatory or dangerous.
  • Co‑operate with Teleos Training on all issues of Health and Safety.
  • Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for their health, safety or welfare.
